The Wave Climate Change March - London December 5th
The Wave Climate Change March took place in London on Saturday where estimates of 30000+ people took part in a good-humoured march to encircle the Houses of Parliament to call upon the government to take action on Climate change and gain an agreement at the Copenhagen talks this week.
We took part too! Two coaches took people from Woodbridge and Ipswich, whilst another coach went from Lowestoft, with many more from Suffolk making their way down to London. Many of those from Woodbridge (17 from St John's) who attended started off with 3500 others at an ecumenical service at Westminster Central Hall to hear the Anglian and Roman Catholic Archbishops' encouraging people to take responsibility for caring for the Planet and to live simpler lives to benefit those in developing countries.

Café Noel
Anthony and Nicola would like to thank all those who helped at, or baked a cake for, Café Noel on Saturday. It was probably the busiest to date and raised over £350 to be split between Christian Aid and Fairtrade For Woodbridge. Look out for the next Fairtrade events to take place during Fairtrade Fortnight 22nd Feb to 7th March.
THANK YOU!
Juliet, Ali, Sally, Jos, Camilla and all the Alpha ladies would like to say a heartfelt thank you to those who donated wine and supported the Illuminati concert on Friday; it was a great evening and the total raised looks like being just over £2000 for the Verna Faith clinic in Kampala! So, thank you…
Our new Children's Outreach Worker - Tracy Watson-Brown
I'm Tracy and with me you will meet Daniel and Sam, both at Farlingaye, and Peter, who is a Project Manager for Virgin Media.
I come to you after about ten years of ministry with The Salvation Army, the last five as Divisional Envoy, working alongside Captain Trish in a wide range of ministry, from worship leading to jumble selling! Before Army, I spent my formative years with Anglican churches, where ever I happened to be living.
If not at work, you might find me with my nose in a book, struggling to decide what is for dinner, at Karate club or dancing. I love to sing, and play a number of instruments poorly!
I look forward to meeting you all.
Tracy
50th Anniversary
The Revd Canon Jeremy Harrold marked the 50th anniversary of his ordination on Sunday 16th September when he celebrated communion and spoke at St Andrew’s Church Bredfield at 9.15am.
Jeremy studied at Oxford gaining a BSc in Chemistry and teaching for a few years at Radley College before doing his National Service in the Army for two years. He trained for ordination at Wycliffe College Oxford and then served his curacy at St Mary’s Rushden. He was invited by the then Bishop of London to be his chaplain along with John Dennis who later went on to become our Bishop here in St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. Whilst he was serving in Fulham Palace he meet Rosemary who was a secretary there and they subsequently married at Christ Church Woking.
Shortly afterwards Jeremy became chaplain to the Archbishop of Perth in Australia who was George Appleton, the author of many fine honest and searching prayers including a short collection ‘Prayers from a Troubled Heart’. On returning from Australia Jeremy served as Vicar of Harlesdon in London amongst a largely West Indian population. Five years later he became Vicar of St Paul’s Mill Hill which was William Wilberforce’s church. After eleven years he came to Suffolk to be vicar of Stowmarket before he and Rosemary retired to Woodbridge in 1996 and began to worship at St John’s Woodbridge.
Jeremy has always been very willing to serve in the Benefice and takes a Communion Service once a month at Bredfield. He has been part of the Exploring Issues group since its inception as well as a keen member and secretary to the Green Group. Rosemary continues to serve on our welcome team including visiting in their own homes many who are new to the church. We are immensely grateful to him for his continued faithful ministry over the years.
Our new Associate Minister - Revd Tricia Shuler
At a special service here on 15 June Tricia was licensed by our Bishop to serve as our Associate Minister. She will have particular responsibilty for the pastoral work of the church.
Tricia comes to us from as far away as Ipswich! We are delighted to welcome her.
